President Bola Tinubu has approved bulletproof SUVs, medical trip for retired Army Generals

  • President Bola Tinubu has approved a luxurious retirement package for military service chiefs and top-ranking officers.
  • The package includes bulletproof SUVs, fully paid foreign medical treatment, and domestic staff and security.
  • Generals will receive up to $20,000 annually for medical treatment, with higher allowances for the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and service chiefs.
  • The package applies to officers of General rank who will retire after serving 35 years.
  • The Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service (HTACOS) for Officers and Enlisted Personnel in the Nigerian Armed Forces was signed by President Tinubu on December 14, 2024.

    President Bola Tinubu has approved a luxurious retirement package for military service chiefs and top-ranking officers. The package includes Bulletproof SUVs, replaced every four years, with maintenance handled by the military, as well as a backup vehicle, such as a Peugeot 508 .

    Retirees will also receive substantial Medical Allowances, including up to $20,000 annually for generals, with higher allowances for the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and service chiefs. They’ll also have access to free medical care abroad.

    In addition to these perks, retirees will enjoy Domestic Arrangements, including:

    • Five Domestic Aides: two cooks, two stewards, and one gardener
    • Personal Assistant: a lieutenant or captain equivalent
    • Drivers and Security: three drivers and an orderly, plus an aide-de-camp or security officer and necessary military escorts

    The package also grants retirees the right to retain their Military Uniforms and Accoutrements for ceremonial purposes, as well as their Personal Firearms, with retrieval mandated upon their demise.
