President-General of Okuama Community Dies in Military Detention

Pa James Oghoroko, the President-General of Okuama Community in Delta State, has tragically died in military detention. According to reports, Oghoroko’s death was a result of torture and inhumane treatment while in custody.

Oghoroko was arrested in August 2024, along with other community leaders, including Prof Arthur Ekpekpo, Chief Belvis Adogbo, and Pa Dennis Okugbaye. The community has been seeking justice and demanding N100 million in damages for their illegal detention.

The Federal High Court in Warri had adjourned the bail application of the arrested leaders to December 9, 2024. However, Oghoroko did not live to see the outcome of the hearing.
