The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the immediate retirement of senior police officers who have either spent over 35 years in service or are above 60 years of age. This decision was reached during the Commission’s first extraordinary meeting for 2025, presided over by its Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu.
The move aligns with the Public Service Rule No. 020908, which mandates retirement upon completion of 35 years in service or attainment of 60 years of age. The Commission had previously approved a decision that contradicted this rule but has now reversed it to enforce retirement in compliance with public service regulations.
The Commission’s decision has been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation. This development marks a significant step in ensuring adherence to public service guidelines within the Nigeria Police Force.
