Putin Apologises to Azerbaijan Without Claiming Responsibility in Plane Crash

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin apologized to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the plane crash that occurred in Russian airspace, killing 38 people.
  • Putin stopped short of claiming responsibility for the crash, instead stating that Russian air defense was working to repel Ukrainian combat drones in the area.
  • Aliyev emphasized that the plane was hit by outside interference over Russia, with evidence including multiple holes in the aircraft’s fuselage and injuries sustained by passengers and crew.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has apologized to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the recent plane crash that occurred in Russian airspace. The Embraer 190 plane, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed in Kazakhstan, killing 38 people out of 67 onboard. Putin expressed his condolences to the families of the dead and wished a quick recovery to those affected.

However, Putin did not claim responsibility for the crash. Instead, he stated that Russian air defense was working to repel Ukrainian combat drones in the area, and that the plane had tried to land in Grozny several times during this time. Aliyev, on the other hand, emphasized that the plane was hit by outside interference over Russia, citing evidence such as multiple holes in the aircraft’s fuselage and injuries sustained by passengers and crew.

The incident has sparked speculation that Russia may have accidentally shot down the plane, with Western experts and the US pointing fingers at Russia. The Kremlin has maintained its silence on the matter until Putin’s apology.
