“Tragedy has struck the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta State (FUNAAB) community with the alleged murder of 300-level student, Christianah Idowu. Reports indicate that Christianah was kidnapped while traveling from her home in Ikorodu to the University of Lagos, where she was undertaking her industrial training. Despite her parents paying a ransom, she was allegedly killed by a friend. The incident occurred along the Ikorodu-Yaba road.”
The abductors contacted her family and demanded a sum of #3m as a ransom before they could release her.
A social media personality, Man of letter (@lettertojack), who confirmed the sad development said the victim was kidnapped and killed by her friend, Adeleye Ayomide , a 200 level of the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
According to him the suspect killed Christianah and buried her in his father’s compound after collecting #350,000 ransom from her family .
“Armed with this information, investigators launched an inquiry into the suspect, who appeared to have a close relationship with Christianah Idowu, as evidenced by their interactions on Instagram. Notably, the same bank account number used to siphon funds from Christianah’s account had been posted on Twitter in a plea for free money.
With this evidence, investigators tracked the suspect’s cell phone activity and text messages, leading them to his parents’ residence in Ikorodu. Confirmation of his presence was obtained through real-time mobile device tracking. Subsequently, personnel from the Nigerian Army’s 174 Battalion apprehended the suspect.
Upon arrest, incriminating evidence was found in the suspect’s possession, including the victim’s blue ITEL A56 phone with IMEI number 35230. This discovery further solidified the case against the suspect.”
“Further examination of the suspect’s phones revealed additional evidence, including records of financial transactions and confirmation of his ownership of the betting account, which had been previously locked due to suspicious activity. The account was registered using his phone number.
Moreover, investigators found email interactions between the suspect’s personal email address and the email address used to communicate with the victim’s family. Following a thorough review of the evidence, the suspect was taken into custody to facilitate further investigation.
Subsequent to the review, the suspect was successfully apprehended and held for further action. On August 3, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime, admitting to the victim’s father and military personnel that he had indeed killed the girl and buried her body within his residence.
