Ruben Amorim Responds to Gary Neville’s Comments

According to the Evening Standard, Ruben Amorim has emphasized the need for higher standards at Manchester United in light of criticism directed at Marcus Rashford and Casemiro regarding their recent trips during the international break.

  • The duo traveled to the United States for holidays during their days off, with Rashford attending an NBA game in New York and Casemiro sharing family photos from Disney World in Florida.
  • Their trips faced public scrutiny from United legend Gary Neville, who questioned their professionalism and decision-making.
  • Amorim had the opportunity to address the issue during an interview with Neville for Sky Sports on Friday, ahead of his first match in charge against Ipswich in the Premier League this weekend.
  • He stated, “The first thing is that it was five days off. The second thing is that they received information about ‘five days off,’ and they are grown men who have kids, so they decided what to do.”
  • Amorim added, “I think the main question here is that the club has to set the standards and manage that. It’s my decision as a coach whether they can have five days off or three days off. Or is it three days to rest, and you cannot fly? This is something the club has to decide.”
  • He concluded, “But you cannot put this on the players. They were told they had five days off, so they could fly anywhere. Nobody in the club said they couldn’t fly.”
