Security Forces Arrest IPOB Commander, Neutralize Boko Haram Terrorists.

Details of how the Department of State Services, DSS, in collaboration with the Army, the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies successfully arrested a top commander of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, the seizure of 37,000 litres of stolen crude and the elimination of many Boko Haram fighters in Niger State emerged in Abuja yesterday

A competent security source revealed to Vanguard in Abuja that the Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with other security agencies, successfully arrested a top commander of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) in Ebonyi State. The joint operation demonstrates the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in tackling security challenges in Nigeria.”

A security source revealed that the DSS, in collaboration with other agencies, arrested a top IPoB commander in Ebonyi State. The commander, whose name is being withheld pending investigation, was arrested for allegedly recruiting mercenaries to launch a major attack on Ebonyi and other Southeast states. The operation yielded the recovery of over 600 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition and other dangerous weapons. The arrest and seizure of weapons have potentially thwarted a significant security threat in the region.”

On September 9, 2024, a joint operation by the DSS and military led to the arrest of a high-profile IPoB commander in Ebonyi State. The commander was found to be coordinating IPoB activities and recruiting mercenaries for further attacks. Additionally, the DSS, in collaboration with the NAF and other agencies, conducted a successful operation against Boko Haram terrorists and bandits who attacked Bassa-Kukoki village in Niger State, neutralizing the threat and restoring security to the area.”

A top security source has assured that the DSS is poised to address growing national security concerns in collaboration with other agencies. The source emphasized the agency’s commitment to preventing terrorists and mercenaries from wreaking havoc in Nigeria, promising decisive action against those who threaten the country’s stability and security.”

A recent operation by the DSS and military in Niger State resulted in the neutralization of Boko Haram terrorists and bandits, with many killed. Unfortunately, three community members were also killed by fleeing bandits. No security personnel were lost in the operation.

In a separate operation, the Delta State DSS command intercepted a wooden barge carrying approximately 37,000 liters of stolen crude oil. Five suspects were arrested and are being investigated and profiled for prosecution. These successes demonstrate the effectiveness of security agencies in tackling insecurity and economic sabotage in Nigeria.”
