A gas explosion in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has claimed the lives of Chioma, the younger sister of Nigerian singer Patoranking, and her husband, George Onuabuchi. The incident occurred on August 25 in the Waterworks area of Abakaliki.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Joshua Ukandu, a preliminary investigation revealed that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder, not an inverter battery. The couple was taken to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. Chioma passed away in August, while George died in September.

The couple leaves behind a three-year-old son. The police spokesperson clarified that there are limited details available since the victims did not survive to share their account of the event. The cause of death was confirmed to be a gas explosion.
