Tragedy struck at the Gombe main Eid Ground when a stampede claimed the lives of two young children, Aisha Salisu Ahmed, 4½, and Maryam Abdullahi Gwani, 4. The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, shortly after Eid prayers, when a large crowd, mostly women and children, rushed to exit the venue through a narrow gate .

The intense heat exacerbated the situation, leading to the stampede. Unfortunately, 22 people were affected, with 15 taken to Zainab Bulkachuwa Hospital and seven others transported to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, for medical attention .

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future . The governor has also pledged to cover the medical expenses of those receiving treatment.
