President Tinubu’s administration has introduced the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) as a palliative response to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal, providing much-needed osupport to the masses during this transitional period.The Federal Government has introduced the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative to reduce transportation costs nationwide. The initiative involves converting petrol and diesel-powered vehicles to CNG. At a handing-over ceremony on Monday, the President, represented by Michael Oluwagbemi, CEO and Programme Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), stated that this initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at making life easier for Nigerians.
Oluwagbemi highlighted the importance of transportation in the nation’s economic development and noted that the deployment of CNG buses addresses issues like petrol importation. He emphasized that CNG is an abundant fuel source in Nigeria, which will help alleviate hardship.
The President’s representative stressed that the initiative aims to benefit everyone, not just the wealthy, and that using Nigeria’s gas resources will drive growth in transportation, industries, food production, and fertilizers.
