Get Ready for the 20th Africa Movie Academy Awards!
Lagos, Nigeria, is set to host a star-studded celebration as the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) marks its 20th edition on Saturday, November 2nd.
Leading the pack of African film royalty are Nigeria’s Femi Adebayo, Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey, and Osita Iheme, Ghana’s Jackie Appiah, Kenya’s Kenneth Ambani, and Burkina Faso’s Charles Koutou.
According to AMAA CEO Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, this milestone edition promises to be unforgettable. “We’re pulling out all the stops to make this 20th anniversary a memorable experience for African filmmakers, creatives, nominees, and everyone who’s ever graced the AMAA stage.”
With over 60 African film stars expected to attend, the event will feature a packed lineup of activities honoring two decades of cinematic excellence.

Billed to be hosted in conjunction with the Lagos State Government in Nigeria at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Ikeja, GRA, Lagos, other African film stars and practitioners, who have confirmed attendance include Lydia Forson, Chinedu Ikedieze, Micheal Majid, Adjetey Anna, Morris Sam, and Zuby Micheals amongst several others.
Anyiam-Osigwe also revealed the lineup of activities for this year’s edition, describing the 20th edition AMAA as significant. The official activities scheduled for the 20th edition will begin with the launch of the AMAA coffee book on Friday, October 25 at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, GRA, Lagos.
The AMAA Africa night of legends takes over on Friday, October 1, 2025 at the Amore Gardens, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, after which the gala night cum awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the exquisite Balmoral convention center.
The activities scheduled for the 20th edition kicked off with the unveiling of the nominees and categories as executed by the AMAA college of screeners and the jury on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
