The CAF has officially announced the dates for the 2025 African Nations Championships.

The upcoming eighth African Nations Championships are scheduled to take place from February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, as confirmed by CAF president Patrice Motsepe on Monday. This biennial event, exclusive to locally-based players, excludes prominent footballers who have ventured to Europe for their careers.

This tournament marks a significant milestone as it will be the inaugural occasion that East Africa hosts a continental football competition for national teams. Additionally, it will set the stage for Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, the hosting countries, as they prepare to host the 2027 African Cup of Nations.

Motsepe checked out three Kenyan national stadiums set to host the event, with two currently getting a makeover. “I’m impressed with the commitment shown by the three countries,” said Motsepe. Qualifying matches for the 19-team tournament kick off on October 25 and wrap up in December. Senegal clinched the last edition by defeating hosts Algeria 5-4 on penalties. Morocco and DR Congo have each secured the CHAN title twice since its start in 2009. Exciting times for African football!
