The Headies Award is finally returning to Nigeria after hosting the 2022 and 2023 editions in the United States. This year, the award ceremony will hold two separate editions – the 17th edition on April 5, focusing on music from 2024, and the 18th edition in December, celebrating music from 2024 and 2025 .
The nominations list for the 17th edition will be released on February 12. The Headies founder, Ayo Animashaun, announced that the award’s return to Nigeria is part of the “Detty December” trend, which aims to promote Nigerian music and culture .
