    The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged the Federal Government to prioritize social dialogue in 2025. In a New Year message, NLC President Joe Ajaero emphasized the importance of social dialogue in achieving industrial peace and respecting agreements with trade unions .

    Ajaero stressed that trade unions are crucial partners in the country’s development, and that governance should translate into real benefits for the people. He also insisted that the government must comply with the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act to ensure workers’ welfare and decent work environments.

    Furthermore, the NLC president called for a wage review to safeguard workers’ welfare, given the economic realities imposed by recent government policies. He emphasized the need for unanimity between the NLC and the government on this issue .

    The NLC’s message highlights the importance of social dialogue, inclusiveness, and collective effort in building a prosperous and sustainable nation. As Ajaero noted, “Together, through collective effort and determination, we can transform our nation into one of progress, inclusion, and shared prosperity.”
