Three suspects, Billion Ndubuisi, Charles Amachree, and Martins Chinemike, were paraded by the Zone 16 Police Command on Saturday for allegedly engaging in illicit drugs and fraudulent activities.
According to SP Gunn Emonena, the zone spokesman, the suspects were arrested by the Zonal Financial and Cyber Crime unit in Rumukparali Community, Obio/Akpo Local Government of Rivers, based on credible intelligence.
The suspects confessed to impersonating Ryam Bill, a US-based luminary, and defrauding two individuals, St. Andrea and Charlen Zielinsky, of $71,500.
During the search of their premises, the police recovered wraps of illicit hard drugs suspected to be hemp, two vehicles, two laptops, and 10 phones.
Interestingly, the suspects attempted to bribe the police with $17,000, which was rejected by the officers. The money will be tendered as evidence in court.
