The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has confirmed the rescue and repatriation of three Nigerian girls who were trafficked to Ghana. The girls, aged 17 to 19, were lured into prostitution by their aunts with promises of gainful employment.
The Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, commended the efforts of Chief Callistus Elozieuwa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, NIDO Ghana, the Nigerian Embassy in Ghana, and the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, for their roles in rescuing and repatriating the girls. Dabiri-Erewa emphasized the need to name and shame perpetrators of human trafficking, stating that it will not end until this is done.
Over 169 Nigerians have been repatriated from Ghana in recent months, highlighting the ongoing issue of human trafficking.
