President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated John Dramani Mahama on his victory in Ghana’s December 7 presidential election. In a statement, President Tinubu commended the people of Ghana for their commitment to democracy, which was demonstrated through the peaceful and successful conduct of both the presidential and parliamentary elections. He applauded Ghanaians for demonstrating again to the world that democracy is the preferred path to achieving political stability, economic development, social justice, and transparent governance in Africa.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, also commended Ghana’s electoral process, highlighting its innovations and political stability as key factors in the smooth conduct of its 2024 presidential election. Yakubu noted that Ghana had learned from Nigeria regarding the management of constituency election results, which had improved the efficiency of the electoral process.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) President, Dr Omar Touray, congratulated the people of Ghana for conducting successful presidential elections and commended Mahama on his electoral victory. Touray praised the democratic maturity displayed throughout the electoral process and lauded Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his statesmanship in conceding defeat promptly.
