Tinubu Orders Emergency Aid, Probe Into Jigawa Tanker Fire

President Bola Tinubu has taken swift action in response to the devastating tanker explosion in Majia town, Jigawa State, which claimed over 100 lives. He has directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, to lead a high-level Federal Government delegation to Jigawa to assess the situation ¹.

The delegation’s mission includes visiting the scene of the incident, assessing the situation, and visiting injured persons in the hospital. President Tinubu has also ordered emergency aid, including medical supplies, food, and shelter, to be extended to the 50 victims receiving treatment and others affected by the fire.

In a statement, President Tinubu expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Jigawa. He reassured the nation that the Federal Government is committed to reviewing fuel transportation safety protocols and strengthening night travel measures to prevent such incidents from recurring ¹. Those found responsible for breaches of safety standards will be held accountable.

This move demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to providing support to affected communities and ensuring the safety of citizens across Nigeria.
