Tajudeen Baruwa, the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) as declared by the Appeal Court, has accused a top government official of backing MC Oluomo to take over the union. Baruwa claims that MC Oluomo is not a member of NURTW and therefore cannot occupy the position of president.
Despite the court ruling, MC Oluomo has defied the order and assumed office as NURTW president. Baruwa has urged obedience to the law and due process in resolving the leadership crisis, stating that MC Oluomo is not above the law.
The leadership crisis in NURTW began when Baruwa was removed as president in 2023, and MC Oluomo was appointed in his place. Baruwa challenged the decision in court, leading to the Appeal Court ruling that declared him the legitimate president of NURTW.
