Troops of the special military task force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of Catholic priest, Rev. Fr Sylvester Okechukwu. The priest was abducted from his residence in Tachira, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on March 4, and found dead the next day .
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday after a raid on a settlement in the Warsa-Piti community of Lere LGA. According to Maj. Samson Zhakom, the media officer of OPSH, the prime suspect confessed to being contracted by another man to kidnap the priest. The suspect allegedly lived in the same house as the slain priest .
The troops are still investigating to uncover the whereabouts of other individuals involved in the crime. The arrested suspects are currently in custody undergoing further interrogation .
