The Nigerian Army has successfully foiled a planned banditry attack in Southern Taraba State, thanks to the quick thinking and action of troops from the 6 Brigade, Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) .
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a series of aggressive patrols, ambushes, and covert operations on December 11, 2024, to prevent the attack. Two suspects, Terry Waapara and Tobaya Tekura, were apprehended in Adu village while trying to infiltrate the Chachanji market, allegedly planning to kidnap and commit other crimes.
The operation also led to the recovery of:
- Two AK-47 rifles
- Two AK-47 magazines
- 26 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation to uncover more details about their network and activities. Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their vigilance and swift response, which led to the operation’s success .
