Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th US President, marking a historic second term in office. Trump took the oath of office beneath the US Capitol Rotunda, surrounded by America’s wealthy and powerful, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos.

In his inauguration speech, Trump promised a “brand new day” and vowed to end “four years of American decline.” He also announced plans to declare a national emergency at the Mexico border, give the US military a key role on the frontier, and end birthright citizenship.

The ceremony was attended by former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, as well as foreign leaders such as Argentina’s President Javier Milei and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Trump’s inauguration marks a significant milestone, as he becomes the oldest president to be sworn in and the second president in US history to return to power after being voted out.
