Two wood merchants missing as boat capsizes in Ogun State

Two wood merchants, Ahohe Seido and Dogbon, are currently missing after their boat capsized in the Gbòde Jedo River in Odofin, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State .The incident happened around 7:00 am on Thursday, September 12, 2024, when the merchants were transporting firewood from their village to Benin Republic for sale.

A boat carrying wood merchants from Ilepa Village in Ipokia, Ogun State, capsized in the Gbodo Jego River on September 12, 2024, due to a sudden strong current .Two individuals, Ahohe Seido and Dogbon, are still missing after the incident, while two others, Awhanse Jimoh and Ahohe Jimoh, were rescued and brought to shore. The merchants were transporting firewood to Benin Republic when the accident occurred.

Sadly, Ahohe Seido and Dogbon didn’t make it after their boat capsized in the Gbodo Jego River in Ogun State, Nigeria . Despite the efforts of community divers and rescue teams, their bodies haven’t been found yet. The police are investigating the accident and verifying the survivors’ accounts. The Commissioner of Police is hoping for the safe recovery of the missing persons and reminded everyone to wear life jackets during this rainy season to minimize risks.
