Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, announced that the toxicology report and forensic analyses for late singer Mohbad have been received from the United States. At a press conference, Pedro confirmed the autopsy report is now with the Lagos State Pathologist and coroner magistrate .
Pedro acknowledged delays in the investigation, attributing them to the thorough forensic process required. He emphasized the importance of comprehensive investigative procedures, including forensic analysis and toxicology, to secure convictions in court.
Interestingly, the toxicology examination had to be conducted in the US due to the destruction of the Lagos DNA and Forensic Centre during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020. This highlights the challenges faced by Nigerian authorities in conducting forensic investigations locally.
