Usyk Beats Fury in Heavyweight Championship Rematch

  • Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by unanimous decision in their heavyweight championship rematch, remaining unbeaten across two divisions.
  • Usyk’s win takes him to 23-0 with 14 knockouts, solidifying his place among the all-time greats in boxing.
  • Fury’s defeat opens up an uncertain future for the 36-year-old boxer, who had previously announced his retirement in 2022.

Oleksandr Usyk cemented his position as one of the greatest boxers of all time, defeating Tyson Fury by unanimous decision in their heavyweight championship rematch. The Ukrainian forced the pace, repeatedly tagging Fury with his accurate left hook, and was awarded the fight 116-112 by all three judges.

Usyk’s victory takes him to 23-0 with 14 knockouts, extending his unbeaten record across two divisions. He has had an illustrious career, including Olympic gold and undisputed champion at cruiserweight.

Only the WBA, WBO, and WBC belts were on the line in this rematch, as Usyk had relinquished his IBF title rather than face challenger Daniel Dubois. By beating Fury in May, Usyk had already become the undisputed heavyweight champion, joining the likes of Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, and Mike Tyson.

The defeat raises questions about the future of 36-year-old Fury, who now holds a record of 34-2-1. Fury had previously announced his retirement in 2022 but changed his mind and returned to the ring.
