Vandals have struck again, attacking the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) transmission lines, causing disruption to power supply. The latest incident occurred on Saturday, January 25, at Watuolo village, Utonkon, in the Ado local government area .

This isn’t an isolated incident, as TCN has reported multiple attacks on its transmission lines and towers in recent times. For instance, vandals attacked the 330kV Lokoja-Gwagwalada transmission line, and another incident disrupted repair works on the Ahoada-Yenagoa 132kV line .

The repeated attacks have raised concerns about the stability of the power grid and the potential for widespread blackouts. In fact, a similar incident caused a blackout in Abuja, affecting the Federal Capital .

TCN has urged communities to take ownership of protecting transmission installations in their vicinity, as community vigilance has been instrumental in thwarting some of these attacks .
