Wike Fires Back at Odili: “I Brought You Back to Life Politically”

  • Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has responded to criticism from former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili.
  • Wike described Odili as a “rent seeker” and a “sycophant” who praises any government in power for personal gain.
  • Odili had claimed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara stopped Wike from turning Rivers State into a private estate.

Wike’s response came during a Special Thanksgiving Service organized by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, where he stated that Odili was “politically dead” until he revived him. Wike questioned Odili’s motives, asking if he must always be a “trader” and seeking personal gain.

Wike also recalled how Odili had praised him during his tenure as governor, even hanging his portraits in every room of his house, including the kitchen and toilets. However, Wike noted that Odili’s current criticism is driven by his desire for personal gain.

In a separate statement, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, described Odili’s comments as “ridiculous” and stated that Wike would respond in due course.
