Yoruba elders have raised alarm over the rising cases of ritual killings and body parts harvesting in the South West. The elders, under the auspices of Kaaro Oojiire ÌmÍ Oodua Foundation, expressed worry that such heinous crimes have become a daily occurrence in the region.
Gbenga Adewusi, the Vice President/Diaspora Counsel of the foundation, stated that the recurrence of ritual killings in the South West is a shameful episode that should no longer be ignored. He emphasized that the regularity of the sordid and inhuman activities, and the various types of people involved, including Muslim imams and Christian pastors, is alarming.
Adewusi noted that if urgent actions are not taken, the menace will ultimately affect the peace, tranquility, progress, and development of the South West. He pointed out that no investor wants to invest in an area where citizens are regularly and gruesomely murdered to harvest their body parts.
The foundation condemned the act, stressing that there is no money ritual in Yoruba tradition. They emphasized that those engaged in ritual killings for money are not practicing the authentic Yoruba tradition.
